ARDevCamp in Amsterdam

On Sat 17th April 2010 we took part to the Augmented Reality DevCamp in Amsterdam and we were positively impressed by the whole event. The atmosphere was really relaxed and appealing at the same time and the venue was a peculiar hall, the Mediamatic Bank, hosting some artistic exhibition.

Our presentation was about our CalaBoard video conferencing tool and although it was a bit technical (it includes many code snippets written in Java) it raised some interest and allowed us to have interesting hints about some possible evolutions of the program. The presentation is available on Slideshare and describes how we organized the processing pipeline dealing with the video stream coming from the reality and producing the augmented video stream in output:

Among the other presentations we were pleased to grab useful tips on the RDFa technology: it seems that websites using it, may reach a 30% increase in their traffic. Seeing how Layar is developing gave us also a new angle on some ideas we are developing in our labs – more on this soon…
